Movie Rant of the Day: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most popular and important book series in modern history. But the books also provide a sense of wonder and gave a charming story to the world’s children. But even the most devoted Potterhead will admit that there are some issues with its world. One aspect of the series that always causes debate amount Potter fans is Harry’s relationship with Ginny. Sometimes you have to ask why these two ended up together at all! If you do ship them, then great. They canonically ended up together, so nothing I can say can take that away from you.

Yes, when Harry returns from detention with Snape because of the Sectumsempra he uses on Malfoy , Ginny kisses him to the great chagrin of Romilda Vane and Dean Thomas, and great bewilderment of Ron.

I am a Harry Potter fan. I read the first two Harry Potter books in England in college and came back proselytizing the Word of Harry to the unaware Yankee masses. Years later I would go to library school and find this knowledge invaluable in my chosen profession.

With the film series really making the franchise popular, the idea we had of these couples was magnified. The first time she and Harry interacted, she ran out of the room without a word. Following this, Ginny never had anything to say other than blush. When they grew up a bit, her feelings only intensified until they got together. That was when she was ten-years-old and Harry was on his way to Hogwarts for the first time.
As luck would have it, he asked Mrs. Weasley for help and Ron, recognizing the boy he saw on the platform, chose to sit with Harry on the train. Had Ron not done this, Harry would never have become his best friend and never visited the Weasley house on a frequent basis, thereby setting up his eventual falling for Ginny. Due to this, Ginny was pretty much an absentee character around this time.
OotP – Chapter 38 – Ginny surprises Ron
It was the Saturday following Harry’s birthday, and Ginny and Hermione were in Fred and George’s new shop, “Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes”, the lively new centerpiece of a Diagon Alley that seemed to otherwise be living in constant fear of Death Eater attacks. The Weasleys, Harry, and Hermione had come to Diagon Alley to stock up on supplies for the coming term, and the twin’s new store was the last stop of the day.
The two teenage girls were poring over something called “Patented Daydream Charms”, which were what was currently amazing Hermione. The claim being made by the makers of the charm who just happened to be Ginny’s surprisingly industrious elder twin brothers was that each charm would provide a realistic minute daydream for the user, which seemed just the thing to make one of Professor Binn’s History of Magic lectures almost bearable. But while Ginny was formulating ideas for their usage, Hermione seemed to be simply admiring the craftsmanship.
Seeing as how I don’t think either Fred or George has ever met a Muggle, it would be interesting to see just how accurate this is.
the Half-Blood Prince and I’m cringing so much at scenes with Harry and Ginny. Like during the scene at Christmas where Ginny feeds Harry a mince pie.
I feel like it is simply presumed that Harry suddenly likes Ginny Weasley back, but do the books actually describe when and why he started to like her that way? The ‘ when ‘ is pretty easy to identify. He felt a strange twinge of annoyance as she walked away, her long red hair dancing behind her. He had become so used to her presence over the summer that he had almost forgotten that Ginny did not hang around with him, Ron and Hermione while at school.
They chose the one nearest a gold-coloured cauldron that was emitting one of the most seductive scents Harry had ever inhaled: somehow it reminded him simultaneously of treacle tart, the woody smell of a broomstick handle and something flowery he thought he might have smelled at The Burrow. Never-Ending Book Quiz
When the Harry Potter series first came out, I had hoped that Harry would wind up with Luna because I felt that the two characters connected on a deeper level and she would be able to use her empathic nature to help Harry heal from all of the trauma he has suffered. I had to watch as one of my favorite characters snogged a person who was a complete bully and an obnoxious jock.
In my opinion, Rowling created a Mary Sue and forgot the main rule of writing: show, not tell. The first time Harry met Ginny, she acted like a typical teeny-bopper meeting her childhood crush.
The directing and visual effects, like all of the films to date does not disappoint. In all a great family film, a pleasure to watch and I would recommend this film to.

Ginny Weasley’s first romantic entanglement is an enthrallment with Harry Potter which visibly continues throughout the first four books. She remains unattached and taken with Harry until she hooks up with Michael Corner , a Ravenclaw student. Then Ginny begins dating Dean Thomas. She breaks up with Dean in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince , finally winning the affection of the only boy she has ever loved, Harry.
They continue to love each other, despite being separated, and Harry finds solace in studying the Marauder’s Map to feel a connection to her at Hogwarts. They both take part in the final battle , after which we see that Harry plans that they will reunite. In the Epilogue, we learn that Harry and Ginny have reconciled, Harry has married Ginny and they have three children. Excited about being close to the famous Harry Potter, she demands to go over and see him, but her mother refuses to allow it.
She is excited again when he returns from Hogwarts, ecstatically jumping up and down at the sight of him. Ginny’s enthrallment with Harry has grown, as she is uncharacteristically nervous and silent during Harry’s stay at The Burrow. At Hogwarts, she seems particularly emotionally fragile when Harry is nearby, although that may partially be from her manipulation by Tom Riddle ‘s diary.
